2020 has been a challenging year, to say the least. As the year comes to an end I am overwhelmed by everything that has happened this year. Many who have lost loved ones as the Covid pandemic still threatens of lives. Here’s my Year In Review :2020 Recap of my experience during one of the worst years many of us have experienced.
The most challenging year today the least… Early this year when the pandemic hit, I couldn’t wrap my head around a virus this deadly. At the end of March when South Africa first went into lockdown. We couldn’t imagine how this would’ve impacted our lives. The loss of jobs and our jobs being threatened scared me! The last thing to deal with was having no income during the pandemic where the cost of living increased tremendously. Thankfully my husband and I made it through these months without our jobs being threatened. Although there have been close calls and just uncertainty with how the economy would do.
Loved ones we lost…
A few weeks into lockdown our beloved second mother passed away. She also infected my brother in law with Covid and our family had no time to mourn or couldn’t attend her funeral. This was a scary time for my family and something I would never want to experience again. My husband and I have been extremely diligent and cautious as we know first hand how this virus can attack the healthiest of people.
I’m thankful…
I am thankful that my brother in law made it to the other side, after months of recurring and possible long term damage. We are thankful that he is still here, he got married not too long after. This has given us a perspective on so many things. As I think back I am overwhelmed by emotion, not to mention that I still miss my mom so dearly who passed away just last year.
I hope you and your family are keeping safe through this difficult time. As the holidays are upon us, let’s not forget we are still fighting a deadly virus, my family and I will be keeping things very simple and small not exposing ourselves to many people.
This will be the last blog post for the year, so I wish you all a happy holiday season! Until next year.
