How We Planned A Wedding On A Budget

How We Planned A Wedding On A Budget -01

Having a wedding is probably one of the most expensive events of your life. Justin and I were on a strict budget for your wedding. This is How We Planned A Wedding On A Budget.

From the day we talked about marriage there was one venue that both of us fell in love with. We knew that come rain or shine that the Lagoon Beach Hotel was the perfect wedding venue for us.

We paid for the entire wedding ourselves. This meant that we were on a strict budget to have a wedding day that we wanted to treasure for the rest of our life.

It’s important to remember why you are getting married and try not to get caught up with all the small little things.

Luckily the venue had a promotion for this year. We were able to have our wedding at the hotel at a very good discount. The venue also gave us access to a wedding planner who helped make our dream wedding come true.

Here are some steps we followed in making sure we had the wedding we wanted without breaking the bank and falling into major debt.

Limit Your Guest List

This is the number one reason why weddings are so expensive. Sadly, we can’t afford to invite everyone to our wedding so we managed to only invite close family members like our siblings and parents and only our closest of friends. We managed to cut down the guest list to only 34 people who we invited. I have always wanted to have an intimate ceremony and that is what we had. As heart-breaking as it is, not all of us can afford to invite every family member.

Keep The Decor Simple

Decor can also rack up a pretty hefty bill. Flowers are extremely expensive! Which is why I opted for greenery Penny Gum cost as way less money and my decor was on point for what I wanted. We had a few King Proteas, I really wanted Proteas because they have a very special place in my heart. Those weren’t two pricing as we only had a few for my bouquet and the groom and bridge table.

Add Personalised DIY Items

If you can DIY some things then you definitely should. I am not a DIY kind of girl. But we really wanted to add some personalised name tags and I found a great website where I created my own wedding invites and name tags. This added a really great personalised touch.

Try To Find A Cheaper Dress Option

I know this is one thing women can really spend a car on! I am the minimalist person you will come across. I’ve literally bought my wedding dress at YDE. I got a shit ton of stares from others women but you know what it ended up being more practile for me. I wanted a dress that looked stunning, was affordable and something I could wear again.

These are the core things we had in place to save as much money as we could for the wedding. We wanted our wedding to be magical were and I day we could look back on and be happy with the day we had with our loved ones.

Yip, agreed. We paid for our wedding ourselves too. 50 guests, made a lot of our own decor and my dress was made but was R3k. And, to be honest, even though our day was amazing, looking back now, I would probably just get married in my garden and spend way less on a dress. A wedding is ONE day and marriage is meant for forever. If a couple has extra cash, save it for the honeymoon or a deposit on a house. Congrats on your wedding!

these are great tips! We hired one of our friends for decor, so it really drove costs down. On the other hand, we had 130 guests so food was quite expensive. But it was an amazing day and I wouldnt have done it differently 🙂

Your dress looked great on you!
