I’ve been reading so many reviews regarding today’s product, people had some mixed opinions on the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation – being as curious as I am I decided to visit my favourite Dischem store in Canal Walk and finally found a shade that somewhat matches my skin tone.
Catrice claims : “the HD Liquid Coverage Foundation offers a high but natural-looking coverage, while feeling extremely lightweight – just like a second skin. Whilst providing a smooth and even complexion, the ultra-liquid texture is extremely high performing and long-lasting. It covers imperfections up to 24 Hours and mattifies the skin. The extremely high definition finish is sure to make the skin beautifully even and camera ready.”
Now for my thoughts, I have used other Catrice foundations and I really enjoyed it! My main concern with Catrice foundations are that in South Africa there are just not a wide enough selection of shades to choose from – they seem to mainly cater for lighter skin ladies which is not great if you ask me. South African ladies have a wide array of skin tones and I feel that Catrice needs to cater for us as well. I picked up the darkest shade I could find which is shade 040 in Warm Beige. This is the darkest shade I came across at Dischem, I have checked online and it does seem like this foundation only comes in four shades 010 Light Beige, 020 Rose Beige, 030 Sand Beige and 040 Warm Beige.
The darkest shade 040 Warm Beige is actually about 1 or 2 shades too light for me, so I have to mix it with another foundation which is not ideal. The coverage is amazing, that is what I come to love about Catrice foundations, this one is buildable and it feels light weight. Because I have really dry skin I found that this foundation is really mattifying – which doesn’t work well with my skin type as I do have more of a combination to dry skin type. I would definitely suggest using a hydrating primer if you have drier skin – for oily skin ladies you will love this foundation. For me it just made my skin look really cakey. The dropper is also not ideal and easy to use, I found that because the foundation is very liquidy substance the dropper just leaked the product all over – so you do have to be careful when using this.
Here are a list of pro’s and con’s that might help you decide whether this foundation will be a good match for you.
- It has amazing coverage.
- Stunning glass bottle packaging.
- Perfect for oily skin ladies, mattifying and long-lasting foundation.
- Limited shade selection.
- Dropper is poorly designed.
- Not ideal for ladies with dry skin.
So yeah I hope this was helpful for you ladies who have been wondering whether to purchase this foundation, in my opinion Catrice has better foundations in their range that will suit my skin type and that has a better shade match. These do retail for R135 which you can purchase from Dischem or Takealot stores.
