Well, it’s taken the world by storm, and become one of the most sought after cosmetic treatments. With any new and successful cosmetic treatment comes a series of questions which Kerry Visser, the founder of Lavish SA, a jozi boutique beauty studio that specializes in Microblading have been kind enough to help us answer.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure whereby hair like strokes are created along the eyebrow to either enhance, reshape or create a very natural looking appearance on the brows, best suited for your facial features and shape. The procedure entails the use of a very small nanoblade, which is dipped into a pigment that has been carefully matched to your natural hair colour and skin tone and is then glided along a sketched outline of the brow that has been drawn on and scrutinized beforehand. Whilst only penetrating up to 1mm into the skin, the pigment is deposited simultaneously with the creation of the hair like stroke leaving a feathered outline which will further be filled in the same manner.
Who Should look at Doing Microblading?
Microblading is a treatment that anyone can make use of and benefit from. There are however a few medical limitations post treatment which is covered in a post care brief document and discussed in your initial consultation. I have seen a lot of successful treatments with ladies and gentlemen that have a fuller eyebrow, opting for Microblading as it gives them a fuller shape filled and natural brow. Microblading is most beneficial for those clients that have Alopecia or little to no brow growth. Something so simple proves to be completely life-changing in so many cases.
Is Microblading suitable for Men and Women?
Men, women boys and girls can all benefit from this new natural cosmetic procedure.
How Long is the Microblading procedure going to take?
Pain.. what pain! A topical anaesthetic is used prior to your appointment as well as insertional numbing is used during the entire procedure. It is common to have some areas of discomfort but completely bearable. At Lavish SA we pride ourselves on attention to detail, spending a full 2hours scrutinizing and consulting with each other. Ensuring our “sisters” are as close to perfect as perfect can be. The first 45 mins we spend time verbally going through everything we are going to be doing in the procedure. We discuss shapes and ideas as well as cover any additional questions and concerns you might have. The actual procedure takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
What does Microblading Cost?
There’s an age-old Afrikaans saying “Goed Koop is Duur Koop” Which loosely translates to – You get what you pay for. This is a semi-permanent procedure that is very visible given it’s on your face. It’s simply not an area you want to cost cut on. Our pricing isn’t the cheapest nor is it the most expensive so this is a good guide for you to follow. There are really good and reputable salons across South Africa. Make sure you consult references and things like Google Reviews and FaceBook to ensure you work with them. The initial procedure costs R1500 and your touch up 4 weeks later is R1000.
If you are like me and had no idea what exactly micro blading is and why it’s so popular, I hope you found this post helpful.
